Rise and Shine — what a perfect day looks like for me?

Have you ever think about your day when it is going by? I mean reflecting it afterwards and taking some time to think about what perfect day would look like for you if you are totally in control of your time.

You do become more cautious about your time if you are a working mother or a woman who wants it all (the both sides of family life and satisfaction of having your own career). You do wonder from time to time, at least I do, if I have a choice, How do I want my day start? And How do I want my day end? So, here we are, here is my ideal day looks like….

I would like to start my day by getting up at 5am. I know it is crazy to get up so early, but actually so many people, successful people out there are getting up before 6am, some of them even get up at 4am. I managed to get up at 6:10am most of the days and sometimes I let myself down and get up at 7am. But I am still working on it and I still want to get up as early as 5am as I love the feeling of getting up before the kids, have some quiet time to write my morning pages, wake up my body slowly and plan my day ahead. Overall, getting up early makes me feel GREAT. I am a intuitive believer and if my body tells me it is good for me. There is no reason for me not to follow.

Recently, I am into something called morning pages. It is a concept from a book called “the Artist Way” by Julie Cameron (Thank you Yiye ZhangΒ for your recommendation, an amazing London based Chinese Intuitive & Abundance Guide). Basically, it requires you to roll out of bed every morning and follow your conscious mind stream and write down anything come into mind for 3 pages. For me, it is kind of an alternative meditation. I found that writing things down in the morning works better for me. Specially, I finally make it to get up early. If I go for the traditional meditation– sitting down and closing my eyes–for me it just sends me back to sleep again.

Don’t get me wrong. I love meditation. Having a piece of quiet time by yourself and being conscious about your thoughts going through your brain are the most tender and caring thing you can do to yourself in this past pace, money-driven world. If you haven’t tried it yet, I would strongly recommend it. Just try once, get up half an hour early than usual, roll off the bed and write anything flowing into your mind, and see how you feel.

Another tool I found it very helpful to get my day in a good start is ‘Daily Planning Form’. The most beneficial thing I get out of the daily planning form is that it helps me to avoid spending too much time deciding what to do during the day (indecisiveness is the killer of the time). Everything I want to do for this very day will be written down on the form with the top 5 priorities of the day. Once I’ve done the form, I don’t give a second thought. Second thought is self doubt. I am training myself not to have too much second thoughts on things.

One of my another passions is body wellbeing and fitness. So, in my ideal day, I would like to go to gym for 1 hour directly after I finish my morning pages and planing form for the day which will be from 6am to 7am.

As a dedicated wife and mother, I would like to prepare a healthy breakfast for the whole family which I will do after my gym session. The children needs to be ready by 8am so they would need their breakfast at 7:30am which means I will need to start preparing breakfast around 7am. Now you know why I would like to get up at 5am if I would like to have my meditation and gym session πŸ™‚ The sweet burden of having children. I love it. I still believe that having children makes me a better person.

In our household, it is my responsibility to get the girls ready for school including getting dressed, tooth brushed and last but not the least hair beautifully done (girls will be girls). My husband will take the girls to school which give me some time to enjoy my shower and get dressed for the day.

Between 9am and 4pm, it is my working hours for our law firm LCN Legal. As I am talking about the ideal day, I would finish at 4pm sharp and go to pick up the girls from school. I will prepare the dinner while they are playing with each other. From 4pm to the girls’ bedtime around 8pm, it is family time for me, I enjoy myself purely being a mother and housewife at this particular time. Just the simple pleasures–sitting down eating dinner together, practice piano and cello with the girls, watering our plants on our terrace…..

I would like to finish my productive day by reading a book with a lavender scented candle, a glass of red wine with hubby and a grateful heart for my healthy body and everything I have in my life.
