It has been pouring down here in Lindfield, West Sussex. Often days like this really wake up the book worm side of me. I have to say I was not a nature/born reader to start with. I was raised and educated in a small town in the 1980s and 1990s in China. My parents are very typical Chinese tiger parents which means that they only cared about my scores at school; AND yes, it is a big and, they were against us reading books other than text books. So I never had that experience of reading as a pleasure. My very beginning of memory of enjoying reading was, when I was around 11 or 12 years old, I was really into a Chinese magazine mainly for people who want to be writers. The big I was really interested in was the column in the last page of the magazine which reported all the history or news of Royal families all over the world. I am not sure why I got into that. Sometimes, you just can’t explain.
when I moved to UK and fast forwarded to meet my husband then boyfriend Paul who has been a big reader. I remembered that he used to have a big book of Tony Robbins on his bedside for a long time. I was certainly influenced by him and fascinated by how much he enjoyed reading during weekend and holidays. I started to pick up books around home and never look back.
Since we started our own law firm LCN Legal, I started reading more and more often mainly on entrepreneurship, marketing and spirituality. I have to say that a good book is just like having a good conversation with a mentor; it sparks joy and inner intuition. You certainly can learn a lot of things by reading books. I am excited to share my top 5 books on my reading list at this moment.
